Youngbin Kim

PhD Student

Youngbin is a BME PhD candidate joining the lab in Fall 2019. His interests lie in bridging biological models for disease modeling/drug screening and computational methods such as machine learning with a specific interest in neural and cardiac systems. In the summer of 2018, Youngbin was an Amgen Scholar in the GVN lab studying Timothy Syndrome, a long QT disorder affecting cardiac function. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 2019 with a B.S. in Bioengineering and a minor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His undergraduate research was focused on developing microfluidic systems to characterize the mechanical phenotypes of cancer cells under Dr. Lydia Sohn. Youngbin is enjoying a nomadic lifestyle residing in various cities in Korea, LA, Pennsylvania, the Bay area, and now New York. In his free time, Youngbin enjoys singing, trying new foods, brewing craft beers, exploring the city, and biking.
