Research Assistant
Derek graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in May 2022 with a B.S. in Bioengineering & Materials Science. Before joining the lab, he worked in Professor Kevin Healy’s lab developing hyaluronic acid hydrogels for muscle regeneration. Much of his work previously focused on biomaterial synthesis and development, optimizing mechanical properties of hydrogel systems for specific cell types and applications.
He is currently working with the OOC team to help studies on the effect of radiation upon multi-organ systems. Outside of the lab, Derek loves any racquet sports, trying new restaurants, and traveling!
