Ylleana Goduco

Masters Student

Ylleana was raised in the Bay Area and stayed close to home to pursue her undergraduate studies at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In 2023, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences. At Cal Poly, she conducted research in Dr. Katharine Watts’ lab, studying the biosynthesis of an antibiotic secondary metabolite with strong activity against MRSA and VRE.

She is currently working on developing a cystic fibrosis lung model. Her work bridges computational data analysis with her foundational training in cellular biology, reflecting her broader interests in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and the application of AI/ML in biomedical engineering.

Outside the lab, Ylleana enjoys going to the beach, practicing archery and golf, reading, taking pilates classes, exploring impressionist art, and going on long walks.
