Diogo Teles

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Diogo is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist. He is currently interested in integrated organs-on-chip in order to study the efficacy and safety of new therapeutic agents, as well as the modeling of human diseases. Diogo is also implementing machine learning algorithms in tissue engineering in order to expand our ability to diagnose human diseases. His research has been published in several journals including Nature, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Protocols, and Lab on a Chip, and featured on the covers of scientific journals.

Additionally, Diogo is a Fellow at Columbia Technology Ventures and is interested in technology transfer and how to facilitate the transfer of technologies from academic research labs to the market.

Diogo has a PhD obtained from a collaborative program between University of Minho and Columbia University. Through his PhD Diogo developed improved classification tools of cardiovascular diseases by combining machine learning with cardiac tissue engineering, and predictive models of drug safety and pharmacological profiles using organs-on-chip. Diogo also received a MD from University of Minho.
