Richard Zhuang

PhD Student

Richard was born Beijing and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. He completed his B.Eng. in Materials Science and Engineering at Imperial College London in 2018. While at Imperial, he worked with Prof. Julian Jones on using sol-gel constructs for diagnostics of respiratory disease. Richard completed his M.S in Biomedical Engineering is now a PhD student at Columbia University. His current work focuses on applying optogenetic tools to cardiac tissue engineering to better understand cardiac maturation. In his free time, Richard enjoys exploring the restaurants and bars of New York, where science leaves him alone.
